Paul Robeson (April 9, 1898 - January 23, 1976) was a multi-lingual African American actor, athlete, concert singer, writer, civil rights activist, Spingarn Medal winner, and Stalin Peace Prize laureate. Although he spent a good deal of his life in Europe to escape the racism prevalent in the US, he was highly revered by his peers in the US and particularly those in the folk community who embraced his ideals and considered him a folk hero. Presented here is an historic, classic folk recording from the Everest archives, digitally remastered.
